The cathedral that guards a famous lamb

Saint Bavo's Cathedral rises 89 metres of Gothic, and inside hangs one of the most famous paintings in the world: the Ghent Altarpiece, with its mystic lamb and its crowds of tiny, astonishing faces. Bavo himself was a local noble who gave up a wild life for a monk's cell. The cathedral has survived fires, wars and one very famous theft. Step in, look up, and remember people have been doing exactly that since the 1300s.
