The tower of books
The Boekentoren — the Tower of Books — was designed by Henry van de Velde and holds Ghent University's library. It's a modernist icon: a concrete and glass tower with a strange, beautiful interior that was built to store knowledge above the city. Even from outside it looks like something that belongs in a science fiction novel. A tower full of books is a very good use of height.
