The square that changed its mind

Saint Peter's Square is a long, open rectangle, 80 by 200 metres, that has been redesigned so often it's hard to keep up. For much of the 20th century it fought with traffic; now it's getting its green back, with trees and space for people. Big squares like this are where a city decides what kind of city it wants to be. Stand in the middle and watch Ghent thinking it over.
