The school desk time machine

De School van Toen is a museum of education that recreates a classic Ghent classroom: wooden desks, chalkboards, old maps and the tools teachers used to keep order. Educational materials, photographs and furniture are arranged in themed classrooms, so you can sit where generations of children sat and wondered whether the bell would ever ring. It's history at desk height — small objects that say a lot about how a city taught itself to read.
